The Widows Sons Vertis Lodge is a Lodge for patched Widows Sons, we are a non-initiating, summer breakfast lodge, who meet at Worcester for Installation (1st Sat in May), all other meetings are peripatetic, so please check the Lodge Meetings page for the upcoming meetings and their location. The Lodge has close ties to the Worcestershire Chapter of Widows Sons and to the Worcestershire Motorcycling Lodge (Lodge of Progress)

Why Vertis?

“Vertis” is believed to be the Roman name for the settlement that later became Worcester, likely meaning “a bend in the river” or “to turn back” (a reference to the River Severn).

Worcester was most likely the site of this Roman town of Vertis, with evidence of early military occupation. There is evidence of 2nd century iron working at Talbot Street/City Walls Road. This stretch of the Severn marks the junction between lowland and highland Britain, a contrast which can be dramatically seen from the summits of the Malvern Hills, so was deemed a good name for our Lodge as it is based in Worcester and all the 1st Riders of the Lodge come from the Worcestershire Chapter of the Widows Sons.
